I agree with you on the points above. It is unfortunate that most cases end up being the standard for all other problems. The abnormal instances should not be treated as the final decision on anything. For this specific situation, I'm still…

“We’re Gonna Party Like its 1984!”

Do you ever feel like your life closely resembles a movie or a novel? For everyone in America, that feeling is quickly becoming reality. In George Orwell’s famous novel, “1984” he presents a world under the control of a totalitarian government that puts its citizens under lifelong surveillance. It watches their move, and arrests any whom it sees doing anything contrary to the government, such as committing normal human acts that the government has deemed illegal. From this book, we get the…See More

Are there any valid reasons for abortion?

A short news blurb in my newspaper this morning brought me to the attention of this story from last year. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,504525,00.html The short: A 9 year old girl was raped by her stepfather, and became pregnant with twins. She had an abortion. The Catholic Church automatically deemed it as wrong, and this past week, an official resigned becuase he agreed with the doctors that an abortion needed to be done…See More

Well, first of all. I think I declare this a over done speech fail. No new information was really addressed, and this should have been announced in August or September, right after the General requested more troops in the first place. The…

REformationHQ replied to Mackenzie LEM's discussion 'Innocent by Insanity?'
I personally believe that one of the best ‘tests’ or ‘factors’ in deciding whether a criminal act was due to insanity is whether or not is was planned, premeditated, how it was executed, and to what extent would the above…

What is a True Hate Crime?

A few weeks ago, Obama signed into law, as part of a national defense package, a bill called The Hate Crimes Prevention Act. (http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/z?c110:S.1105: )The bill basically assigns more penalties if the attacker was provoked by the victim’s physicality, gender, sexual orientation, or religion. It sounds like a good idea up front. We don’t want people attacking others at all, especially over beliefs or…See More

Innocent by Insanity?

What do you think a proper definition for being guilty (or innocent) of insanity is, and when should it be lawfully applied?I ask this because the Fort Hood shooter, Hasan, is apparently going to plea guilty by insanity at his trial.I personally think that plea should be considered not valid, becuase of the lead up to his actions. His extremist comments and religious acts that happened prior showed he was dedicated to his beliefs. This was premeditated, and if he was insane, it would have been…See More

I read the first version of the bill all the way through. That was LONG!!! My opinion is that the passing of this bill would officially relabeled is as a socialist country. So many things in the bill scare me, and make me worry for my future…

Welcome!

Hey all, and welcome to the re-opening of REformation on it’s new home here on Ning! It is my hope that this new host will better serve the main goals and purposes of REformation: to debate and discuss the issues of the day.

In addition to a new host, REformation also has some new policies (see the FAQ/About page for changes) as well as some new features that you’ll want to check out, including a Forum for YOU to post your opinions on current issues, and anything else you’d like to share with the community.

As a final note, I’d like to thank you for visiting the site, whether you’re new to REformation or not; and I would also like to urge you to not only join in on the conversation, but to spread the word about REformation to your friends and family. Let us gather here to question and challenge our leaders, and each other; and hopefully find some answers.

NET NEUTRALITY: Scare Tactic or Worthy Cause?

Upon the re-opening of REformation in its new home here on Ning, I would like to bring up a subject that many people are unaware of. However, check out any ‘local’ or ‘major’ news sites or do a quick Google search on it, and you’ll find a plethora if varying opinions on the topic. What is it, you ask? It is a concept—and now a push on the part of the FCC—called ‘net neutrality’.

Okay, this still doesn’t answer the question, you might say. What is net neutrality? That in itself is a… Continue
